FUTURE OF WORK #6 INTERVIEW | 5 RAPID-FIRE QUESTIONS
Wondering how remote teams celebrate Halloween? Well, now you know. And that’s not the only remote problem this group is tackling. Meet the team behind the US telecommuting giant, FlexJobs, as well as the remote work platform, Remote.co. Together, they’re connecting thousands of remote work candidates with employers around the world.
We had the pleasure of chatting with Brie Weiler Reynolds, their Senior Career Specialist. This interview covers her outlook for both Remote.co and the future of remote work.
1. How many companies and remote job positions do you currently have on Remote.co?
When it comes to our Remote Company Q&As, where we ask leaders of remote companies to share lots of great information on how they manage and run remote teams, we have 135 participating companies.
We also have hundreds of remote jobs posted on the site, with new listings added every day.
2. In which states do you see the greatest growth in demand from companies looking to hire remotely?
At Remote.co, we actually focus on jobs that can be done anywhere in the U.S. or anywhere in the world, so we don’t have specific state data.
Many remote jobs do have location requirements, but we know a lot of professionals are looking for remote jobs they can do from anywhere, so that’s what we’re focusing on — those high-quality remote jobs that have few or no location restrictions, allowing people to work wherever they need or want to!
3. What do you think is the outlook for remote work in the US?
All signs point to continued growth for remote jobs. According to the 2017 State of Telecommuting in the U.S. report, remote work has grown 115% over the last 10 years.
And 43% of U.S. workers are working remotely at least some of the time. That’s up from 39% in 2012, according to the latest Gallup figures.
4. What’s next on Remote.co’s roadmap?
We are focused on providing expert insight, best practices, and valuable support for organizations exploring or already embracing a remote team as a significant portion of their workforces.
As well as for remote workers who want to gain a better understanding of how to make the most of this way of working.
5. What’s your vision for the Future of Work?
The future of work embraces options like remote work and other flexible work opportunities, not just as perks for workers, but as strategic business imperatives that help businesses reach goals.
It even provides a solution for governments and organizations to handle worldwide issues like global migration, traffic mitigation, and emergency and disaster preparedness.
