A brief overview of iOS development.

iOS is not a coding language itself, but rather an operating system (OS) developed by Apple Inc. and released in 2007.

It uses a Graphical User Interface (GUI) and is designed around touchscreen input. rather than the more traditional mouse and keyboard inputs. Since it is a simple operating system, its functionality is rather limited. Some of the easily-recognizable features of iOS include the home screen, system fontm Siri and overall accessibility. However, with each new upgrade iOS receives fancier features.

The OS system is used to run all Apple hardware devices. including the iPhone. iPad. and iPod Touch. If you’re looking to build any mobile product designed for one of these devices, an iOS developer will be your go-to.

Swift offers a concise syntax that makes it easy for developers to create applications for iOS.

It was designed to be a replacement for C and Objective-C. while also offering developers a straightforward and fast way of building great products on iOS.

It is fondly known amongst developers as “Objective-C without the C”.

When hiring top OS developer, you should assumably find one who’s comfortable using both the Xcode development environment and the framework Cocoa Touch. Most iOS developers are familiar with both Objective-C and Swift programming languages, so this should be a given on any resume.

If you plan to compete with the 2.2million iOS apps currently in the Apple App Store (1 million of which are for iPads) best to ensure you have an expert iOS developer to build you a top-notch mobile product in order to do so.
